David C. Shonka

David C. Shonka is the Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Federal Trade Commission. He oversees the work of the General Counsel’s Litigation, Legal Counsel, and Policy Studies units, and the work of the agency’s FOIA program, its employment counsel, and its Energy Counsel. He also chairs the agency’s E-Discovery Steering Committee.
Before becoming the Principal Deputy, Mr. Shonka was the FTC’s Assistant General Counsel for Litigation. In his career at the FTC Mr. Shonka has briefed and argued numerous appellate cases in the United States Courts of Appeals, tried and argued antitrust and consumer protection cases in the federal district courts, tried cases in administrative proceedings, and contributed to the government’s briefs in several Supreme Court cases.
Mr. Shonka frequently speaks on e-discovery topics, addressing issues that relate to government investigations, cross-border transfers of data, information management, privacy, data security, cloud computing, and the use of social media in litigation. He has also been an instructor in numerous trial advocacy courses. Besides being an active trial level and appellate litigator, Mr. Shonka advises the Commission and senior managers on legal and policy issues; and has represented the Commission in several international programs. Before joining the FTC as a staff attorney, Mr. Shonka was an associate in a Washington D.C. law firm and a litigator in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice.

Michele C.S. Lange serves as a director for the Discovery product line for Kroll Ontrack. In this role, Ms. Lange is responsible for the evolution of the company’s legal technology product and service offerings, conducts legal and market research and analysis, and engages in industry relations. From e-document preservation to litigation tactics, she also helps clients integrate electronic discovery into their case strategy.
On the topics of electronic discovery, computer forensics and technology’s role in the law, Ms. Lange is among the nation’s most knowledgeable experts. Most notably, she authored, along with her colleague, Kristin M. Nimsger, the American Bar Association book, titled "Electronic Evidence and Discovery: What Every Lawyer Should Know." Further, her articles have appeared in the National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, Law.com and Digital Discovery & E-Evidence, as well as numerous other publications.
Ms. Lange is frequently called upon by journalists to comment on cutting-edge law and technology developments, and she also routinely shares her expertise and knowledge as a guest speaker for legal associations, CLE programs and law school courses.
Ms. Lange graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with highest honors and the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude.

Simon brings more than 12 years of experience as an eDiscovery customer support and technical services expert, and has previously worked as Client Services Manager for CT Summation, now AccessData Group, and as head of IT for Foley & Bezek, a Southern California law firm. Simon’s responsibilities include creating and sustaining an environment that provides superior service to all of Nuix’s clients. He has been instrumental in gaining additional consumer insight and fostering consumer relationships. Having worked in various engineering, QA and technical support roles since 1994, Simon brings an advanced skill set to his position, as well as unmatched technical knowledge to Nuix.

Mr. Glynn is a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young LLP's Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner with over fifteen years of investigative, electronic discovery consulting, forensic computer science, and data analysis experience. He has testified in US federal courts as an expert in forensic computer science and data analysis. He has directed the preservation and review of electronically stored information in a range of matters including independent accounting investigations, litigation and internal inquiries.
Mr. Glynn routinely consults with clients regarding electronic discovery matters, such as helping clients prepare for discovery by assessing sources of ESI and designing preservation and collection protocols. He has also assisted multiple clients in the investigation of stolen trade secrets, intellectual property and proprietary information such as aircraft designs, software code, customer date, etc.
